25th Anniversary of Denim Day Commemorated in Stand Against Victim-Blaming and Support for Sexual Violence Survivors
April 24, 2024
Honoring the 25th anniversary of Denim Day, Supervisor Spiegel and the incredible team in District Two gather wearing denim to stand against victim-blaming and to support survivors of sexual violence. Denim Day is a campaign that originated from an Italian Supreme Court case where the convicted perpetrator was acquitted on the basis that the victim's jeans were so tight, implying they must have been removed with her consent. Denim Day continues as a reminder that there's never an excuse for sexual violence. Let's continue to challenge misconceptions and promote a culture of respect and accountability.
