Supervisor Spiegel Attends 'Be The One' Suicide Prevention Presentation
September 19, 2024
Supervisor Karen Spiegel was honored to attend the 'Be The One' suicide prevention support presentation at American Legion Post 328 in Norco, where she joined veterans, supporters, and community members to raise awareness and provide critical resources. The 'Be The One' campaign is dedicated to destigmatizing mental health support, offering peer-to-peer resources, and educating the community on how everyone can make a difference.
Currently, suicide is the number one issue facing the veteran community, with an estimated 17-22 veterans taking their own lives each day—more than 6,000 lives lost annually. This initiative aims to reduce the rate of veteran suicide by fostering open conversations, encouraging veterans to seek help, and ensuring they receive the support they need.
Whether a veteran or a family member, anyone can Be the One to talk, listen, and reach out when it’s needed most. Together, we can make a life-saving impact. For more information and resources, visit https://legion.org/betheone.
