Second District Participates in Denim Day to Support Survivors and Raise Awareness
April 30, 2025
On April 30, the Second District team joined millions across the country in recognizing Denim Day, an international movement to stand with survivors of sexual violence and challenge harmful myths surrounding sexual assault.
Denim Day began in 1999 as a response to an Italian Supreme Court decision that overturned a rape conviction, arguing the victim’s jeans implied consent. The ruling sparked global outrage and created Denim Day as a visible sign of protest and solidarity. Today, participants wear denim to send a clear message that victim-blaming has no place in our society.
