The Second District office attended the Highway Dedication Ceremony honoring the life and legacy of Riverside County Deputy Sheriff Darnell Calhoun. On January 13, 2023, Deputy Calhoun was tragically slain in the line of duty while serving and protecting the community. In recognition of his sacrifice, a section of Route 15, from North Main Street to Highway 74, has been dedicated in his memory.

Surrounded by family, community members, and local leaders, the solemn ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face every day. Attendees were invited to sign the back of the highway sign as a lasting tribute and show of support for the Calhoun family.

Deputy Calhoun’s service and ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten.
