Kristallnacht Commemoration Program Honors Survivor Stories and the Importance of Remembrance

November 14, 2024

Last week, Supervisor Spiegel attended the Kristallnacht Commemoration Program at the Corona Public Library, "Keeping the Stories Alive: Reflections," where attendees had the profound honor of hearing Holocaust survivor Yetta Kane share her story. Kane recounted her harrowing journey of survival, from escaping into the forest with her family to joining a group of partisans after the tragic massacre of Jews in her hometown of Miadziol, Poland.

Her testimony serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of remembering the atrocities of Kristallnacht, the "Night of Broken Glass," and honoring those who endured unimaginable hardship. These stories are not only part of history but also a call to ensure that the lessons of the past help shape a future free of hatred and intolerance. Supervisor Spiegel would like to extend her gratitude to Congregation Beth Shalom for holding this impactful annual event and for reminding the community of the importance of remembrance and resilience.
